"TAPTICO" LAST OF THE WICOMICO.... The book is now ready...the cost is $35 which incudes the cost of mailing. The book is well formatted for easy locating your ancestors. The book traces the Native American Taptico/Tapp lineage from 1678 to the 5th and 6th generation. For those that buy the book will receive all future research on the Native American Tapps free of charge. I currently have many of the Tapps identified up to the 1900s, however during the 1850s the Native American Tapp population exploded, many of the Tapps came from Europe and other overseas areas. After the Civil War many blacks begin changing their names so we have many black Tapps that has to be sorted thru, therefore identifying those Tapps are more difficult.
To order send request to eagleman@theriver.com with mailing address.

WINGAPO CHESKCHAMAY ! (WELCOME ALL FRIENDS)

Chamah Netab ( Welcome Friend)
we are in the process of selecting council members in order to bring the tribe back to life. The Council will be structured more to the times and designed to make decisions quickly. Our primary and number one project will be to seek State Approval in Virginia, much of this work has previousley been completed......... we previously submitted the first book of the Wicocomico History to indian Affairs, the second book will be submitted with a copy of the first book, to the State of Virginia. Some of our previous projects included build a Culture center, issuance of a stamp honoring King William Taptico, (this was done) a time council. We did have approval to erect a monument to the Wicocomico Indians, however the selection appeared to be to restrictive and only available to a select few. At the time of disbanding the council, we were in the process of having a historical marker placed on the road that at one time, part of the Wicocomico land.
We welcome any and all to apply for membership in the Wicocomico Nation.

Continue to check with our web site for further information and click on the Council menu.

Click on history and be ready for an exciting trip into the past to see how your ancestors lived and conducted their daily lives.

History  This brief history will give the the visitor a clear insight of the connection between Taptico and Tapp. It also includes an overview of the Wicocomico Indian Nation when the tribe was part of the Powhatan Empire.

Dictionary  Unfortunately the Powhatan language no longer exists. Today there are approximately one thousand words of the Virginia Algonquian/Powhatan language. However this is an important page and words are posted about every 2-3 weeks. Members of the Wicocomico Nation use the words during our email communication.

Editorial   Our discussion page is open to any one that would like to post a topic for discussion or events. Currently we have 2-3 topics and issues that are up for discussion. Lets make it a lively debating arena. Just email the topic to me and I will place it on line.

Take the time and browse through the remaining sites, if you are a descendant of William Taptico, this will be an adventure into your past.
